“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.”
Robert Frost
The great ones have the ability to break it down into its simplest form. With only a few words placed in the right order, they can help you put life in perspective. They can be the corrections you needed to put you back on course. And when you’re on a road less traveled, they can be the reason why you don’t turn around.
I was on a road less traveled, and then I stepped onto another that took me to Haiti. In the past eighteen months, I found myself in Port-au-Prince eleven times. Some of the trips lasting a month. All of the experiences – good and bad – lasting a lifetime.
I’m not sure if it was the pursuit of altruism or a means of escape that drew me into a different culture in a different country. Regardless of the reasons, that time is over now. Whatever I was looking for wasn’t there. It’s always been right here. This magical place where I get to put words into the right order on a blank page that will create a connection with you.
My love of writing has been challenged over the past few years with the loss of loved ones, a traumatic injury, and a certain level of distaste for mainstream publishing. None of those being a reason to quit doing what I believe I was born to do. All of those being reasons to hold fast on my course.
During my time off the grid I managed to complete another novel, WITHOUT II - The Fall. It will be ready to launch as soon as the cover is complete. As with my other books, I’ll be asking for your help with spreading the word in the coming weeks during the initial marketing phase.
Word of mouth, sharing posts, and book reviews are still the best tools in the box. I’m proud of this work and I hope that it’s reflected within each page. I believe I’ve done my job and created a story worth reading.
This phase of the process always fills me with anticipation and apprehension at the same time. This will be my fifth novel, but the same butterflies show up that were there for the first. Each book is a step in a journey toward realization of a dream. As always, I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
